10 Common Meditation Mistakes That You Need to Avoid Now

Are you a beginner at meditation? Then this blog is for you. I have been meditating for more than 20 years and have gained so much from meditation. In this long journey, I also made some mistakes when I was a beginner. I wish someone had told me about the mistakes to avoid in meditation. It would have made my journey easier. To make your journey of meditation easier, in this blog, I am sharing the list of 10 mistakes to avoid in meditation. When you avoid these mistakes, you can make the most out of meditation and evolve faster. So, let’s get started. Here is the List of 10 Common Meditation Mistakes That You Need to Avoid Now: Importance of Taking Care of Your Body A healthy physical body is very important to go into the deeper states of meditation. Without a healthy body, it becomes difficult to sit still. Illnesses, pains, and aches distract you and make it difficult to meditate. Hence, taking care of the physical body is important. Eat healthy food, exercise regularly, and sleep well to take care of your body. Regularly check your vitamin D and B12 levels and take supplements if needed. The Impacts Eating Unhealthy and Junk Food Affects The quality of the food you eat and the quality of your meditation are closely related. If you are eating junk and unhealthy food, you cannot enjoy meditation. You may fall asleep during meditation or get distracted. Avoid or minimize the consumption of deep-fried and processed foods. Choose more healthy and light foods like raw vegetables and fruits. Once your diet is in control, you will start experiencing deeper states of peace in meditation. Lack of Physical Activity and Exercise Many people think meditation involves only sitting, and because of this, they ignore physical activity. Physical activity is a must to keep the body strong. If you are serious about progressing in meditation, you need to incorporate physical activity into your daily life. It could be dancing, yoga, working out in a gym, swimming, etc. Try to do at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day. Starting Meditation in Old Age One of the greatest myths about meditation is it is for old age. Truth is quite different. You need meditation to overcome challenges, build inner strength, enhance decision-making ability, improve concentration. These skills are essential to succeed in life. So, the sooner you start meditation, the better it is. Don’t wait for old age to start meditation. Start young and face the challenges of life with the enhanced mindset that comes with meditation. Can You Meditate on a Full Stomach? This is a big mistake to avoid. Never meditate on a full stomach. You will fall asleep during meditation if your stomach is full. Do your meditation on an empty stomach or maintain a gap of 2 hours between your meal and meditation time. Lack of Proper Sleep Good quality sleep is very important to recharge and rejuvenate physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Such high-quality sleep helps you wake up fresh and gives you the strength to meditate every day. So, give your sleep due priority. Don’t neglect sleep. Can We Learn Meditation Without a Teacher Yes, YouTube can teach everything for free of cost. There are so many apps out there teaching meditation. But we need to clearly understand that these cannot replace a teacher who knows all about meditation and has practiced the meditation for several years. You can start your meditation journey with YouTube, but if you want to go deeper, learn from a qualified meditation teacher who himself/herself has practiced meditation for years. The right teacher can make a great difference in your meditation journey. Not Being Consistent in Your Meditation Practice If we want to see results in anything, consistency is an important factor. Many of us start something new and then stop after some time. We again start and stop. This journey continues, and we stay at the same place even after several years. In order to break this pattern, consistency is the key. Even if you practice meditation only for 10 minutes a day, do it consistently. Consistency significantly improves your meditation journey. Expecting Results Very Soon Some of us have the tendency of expecting results out of meditation practice just after meditating for a month or 2. And if we don’t see the results, we give up. It takes time to see substantial results out of meditation. Don’t be in a hurry to see the results. Results will come but be patient and continue the practice. Stop Comparing Yourself to Others Everyone’s meditation journey is unique, and comparing with others is not the right thing to do. Sometimes, others may get greater results than you with less amount of practice. It’s ok. It’s important to understand that every soul’s journey is unique, and we are not in a race with anyone. Don’t compare your journey with others and feel low. Keep meditating, and the right results will come at the right time. These are the 10 common mistakes to avoid in meditation. It’s wonderful to meditate every single day and tap into inner peace. If you are a beginner, it’s common to make some mistakes and give up meditation. But don’t give up meditation so quickly. Hang on! Move beyond the above 10 common mistakes and meditate consistently for 6 months to 1 year. When you do this, you will experience clarity in thinking, inner peace, enhanced concentration, better control over emotions and thoughts. It is worth investing your energy and time in meditation. If you want to learn more… Happy Meditation!

2 Potent Ways to Supercharge Your Meditation

Do you want to improve your meditation practice? Then, this blog is for you. I have been practicing meditation for over two decades and have devoted more than 10,000 hours to it. Meditation has become an integral part of my life, and I cannot imagine living without it. My meditation practice has enabled me to connect with my true self and discover my life’s purpose. It has brought about a significant transformation in the way I lead my life, and I consider it a way of life. Meditation takes us into a meditative state where we are fully present at the moment with complete involvement and awareness. For me, this state of oneness is our natural state, and I strive to attain it 24×7. Meditation is a tool that takes me into this state, and in this blog, I will share two practices that have immensely helped me in my meditation journey. The first practice is prayer. Initially, I meditated and prayed separately at different times. However, as I progressed, I realized that combining prayers with meditation enhances the quality of both practices. I now start my meditation practice with a prayer, meditate, and end it with a thanksgiving prayer. This simple addition has brought me significant benefits. It has made my meditation more powerful, and I find it easier to connect with myself and divinity. Adding prayers to my meditation practice has allowed me to stay in a positive state of mind for a longer duration, and its effects spill into my daily activities. I have experienced a kind of oneness with the divine, and I believe that no meditation can give a complete experience without prayers. I urge everyone to add prayers to their meditation practice as it is crucial to establish a strong connection with God and progress in meditation and other aspects of life. The second practice is sending love. This simple practice involves sending lots of love to family, friends, and the entire world. It kindles positive emotions like love, compassion, and kindness, which are the qualities of divinity. Blessing others through this practice establishes higher qualities like love, peace, and kindness within us, which brings about a certain joy and happiness. This practice increases our well-being, strengthens our inner self, and helps us handle feelings of depression and anxiety. It improves our relationships and enables us to come out of negative states of mind quickly. I have learned that when we bless others, we bless ourselves because nature’s law dictates that what we give to others comes back to us multiplied many times. This practice energizes me greatly and brings me a deeper experience of meditation. When we all practice blessing meditation and bless the Earth with positivity and love, it has the potential to bring about transformation on Earth and positively impact the collective consciousness of the planet. Adding prayers and blessings to our meditation routine can enrich our practice significantly. I have realized that growth is limited when we travel solo on the path of meditation, and it is important to bless others to experience exponential growth in our lives and spirituality. Contributing to others has become a significant part of my life, and I urge everyone to add these two practices of prayer and blessings to their daily routine or meditation practice. When we find ourselves going through negative thoughts and emotions, instead of being sucked into them, we can pray and bless the world.

8 Tips for a Stress-Free Life

Are you going through stress and looking for ways to minimize it? Then, this blog is for you. Stress has become an inevitable part of modern life, regardless of our profession. With so many responsibilities and tasks to manage, it’s natural to experience stress from time to time. However, chronic stress that persists for years can lead to lifestyle diseases, relationship breakdowns, anxiety, and insomnia. Therefore, it is crucial to find effective ways to reduce stress and restore balance in your life. In this blog, I will share 8 powerful tools that can help you manage stress effectively, leading to a happier and more peaceful life. So, let’s get started! Effects of Stress: Beyond the Mind Stress is not just limited to our thoughts and emotions; it also manifests in our physical bodies due to the “fight or flight” mechanism. When confronted with stress, the body’s sympathetic nervous system activates this response, preparing us to either confront the situation (fight) or escape from it (flight). As a result, the body undergoes various changes, including an increased heart rate, elevated blood pressure, rapid and shallow breathing, heightened alertness, temporary shutdown of systems like digestion and the immune system, and an energy surge in the hands and legs to respond to the perceived threat. While this fight or flight mechanism is a natural survival mechanism, prolonged and frequent stress can lead to a host of physical issues, including diabetes, high blood pressure, poor digestion, insomnia, headaches, weakened immune system, heart attacks, fertility issues, missed periods, and muscle-related problems. Chronic stress can also impact our mental and emotional well-being, leading to loss of productivity, difficulty handling life’s challenges, relationship breakdowns, irritability, depression, constant fatigue, and low self-esteem. To lead a healthier and more fulfilling life, it’s essential to address stress and develop strategies to manage it effectively. 8 Tips for a Stress-Free Life Make Stress-Free Living Your Reality Embrace these tips and incorporate healthy stress management techniques into your daily life. Whether you choose meditation, yoga, or exercise, ensure you enjoy the process and stay present in the moment. These lifestyle changes will help you handle stress effectively, making stress-free living a reality. Life is too short to live under constant stress, so take charge of your well-being and embark on a journey toward a stress-free life.
